Hydrogen Liquefaction System

Hydrogen is a promising energy source for the future. Given this, KHI is developing a technology for liquefying it to reduce its volume to 1/800 that of hydrogen gas. Our aim is to dramatically improve the storage and transportation efficiency for hydrogen and the capacity for supplying hydrogen.
The hydrogen liquefaction system under development will be the first industrial one to be developed in Japan. It will combine our various state-of-the-art technologies, including rotating machinery and equipment for handling cryogenic liquefied gas.
We have succeeded in producing approximately five tons of liquefied hydrogen a day by stably operating the expansion turbine-which is the system's core unit-at ultra-high speeds of considerably more than 100,000 rpm.
