High-speed Travel
This section describes the aerodynamic technology that KHI employs to reduce the noise and air resistance of high-speed trains and the bogie technology that it employs to ensure safety and stability.
Aerodynamic Technology
The optimized shape of the lead vehicle of a high-speed train is crucial for not only reducing noise, but also minimizing the shockwave produced when the train enters a tunnel. In addition to conducting wind tunnel tests using models, KHI takes full advantage of its computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation technology to design the shape of the lead vehicle so that it has the necessary aerodynamic characteristics and sufficient space.

Bogie Technology
Bogies for high-speed rolling stock must deliver not only safety and stability while in motion, but also excellent ride quality on curves.
KHI leverages its analysis and testing technologies to optimize the bogie's design by providing a stiffer support structure for the axles and delivering better control of unstable sideways vibrations with dampers. In this way, KHI is working to ensure improved stability during high-speed travel and better performance on curves.
