Transporting Cryogenic Liquefied Gases
This technology facilitates the safe transportation of large quantities of cryogenic liquefied natural gases at a temperature of −162°C.
Thermal Insulation Technology
The vaporization of LNG can be minimized by covering the surface of an LNG tank with thermal insulation panels to reduce the amount of external heat that penetrates the tank. A thermal isolation technology developed by KHI for LNG tanks, the Kawasaki Panel System can be used for tanks with various shapes, including the spherical Moss tanks used on large LNG carriers and small cylindrical tanks. The system delivers the world's best thermal insulation performance with a daily vaporization rate equal to just 0.10% of the entire tank volume.

TOFD Ultrasonic Testing Technology
KHI's ultrasonic defect detection system can inspect the welding joints on spherical LNG tanks at high speed with a high degree of accuracy. This marks the world's first use of TOFD* technology in the welding of joints for spherical LNG tanks on ships.
