Engineering Test Satellite VII (“Orihime” and “Hikoboshi”)

Kawasaki was in charge of developing the docking mechanism, proximity sensor, and task board for the Engineering Test Satellite VII (ETS-VII), which successfully made the first remotely-controlled unmanned rendezvous docking between two spacecraft in history.
Launched in November 1997
Succeeded in the first unmanned rendezvous docking in July 1998
