Kawasaki Launches Development of “CORLEO,” a New Type of Futuristic, Off-Road Personal Mobility Vehicle ~Targeting Use as On-Site Mobility Vehicle at Expo 2030 Riyadh, Saudi Arabia~
Dec. 03, 2025
Tokyo, December 3, 2025 - Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced it has launched development toward the commercialization of “CORLEO,” a new type of futuristic off-road personal mobility vehicle exhibited at the Japan World Expo 2025 (Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai). The Kawasaki has established a dedicated development organization (SAFE ADVENTURE Business Development Team), reporting directly to the president, targeting use as an on-site mobility vehicle at the Expo 2030 Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, while working toward commercialization in 2035.
In realizing the commercialization of CORLEO, the Kawasaki will also develop a riding simulator that enables riding experience of the four-legged mobility vehicle. This riding simulator targets completion by 2027, with plans to deploy the entire system—including motion data, 3D models, and motion data obtained during CORLEO development—to the gaming and e-sports industries.
Additionally, while making CORLEO development the core project, based on the “SAFE ADVENTURE” concept, which aims to eliminate mountain accidents and make mountainous regions safe and enjoyable for everyone. the Kawasaki will also develop a navigation system that detects weather, temperature, road surface conditions, and wildlife appearances, guiding users to safe routes via devices such as smartphone.
This SAFE ADVENTURE concept aligns with all three focus fields of “Group Vision 2030” promoted by the Kawasaki Group: “Safe and Secure Remotely Connected Society,” “Near-Future Mobility,” and “Energy & Environmental Solutions.” Through this development, the Kawasaki will contribute to realizing a society where everyone can safely and securely enjoy mountainous areas while achieving harmony with nature.

CORLEO is a four-legged off-road personal mobility vehicle realizable only by the Kawasaki Group, which operates both robotics and motorcycle businesses. The concept model was unveiled at “Future Life Expo: Future City,” a future society showcase project at the Japan World Expo 2025 (Expo 2025, Osaka-Kansai), achieving a cumulative total of approximately 1.2 billion social media impressions.
(Main Features)
- In addition to the off-road performance provided by four-legged robotics, it combines the maneuverability and stability cultivated through motorcycle technology.
- By applying the swing-arm mechanism developed for motorcycles, the rear legs move independently up and down to absorb shock. This allows the rider to maintain a posture that makes it easy to check the terrain ahead.
- Operated by shifting body weight, like horseback riding. With support functions, anyone can easily and safely traverse challenging terrain such as mountains and water areas.
- Powered by “hydrogen” fuel, using a “hydrogen engine” to generate electricity.
