Conclusion of “Mizuho Human Capital Management Impact Finance” Commitment Line Agreement

Tokyo, December 8, 2023 - Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Kawasaki) has announced today that it has concluded a commitment line agreement* (the Agreement) with Mizuho Bank Ltd. (Mizuho Bank) for “Mizuho Human Capital Management Impact Finance” as part of its sustainable finance initiatives. The agreement is structured in syndication and was highly evaluated by Mizuho Bank and the participants’ recognition of the company’s human resource management on visualization, disclosure, and practice.

“Mizuho Human Capital Management Impact Finance” is a product that Mizuho Bank supports continuous human capital management of domestic borrowers. The borrowers’ visualization, disclosure, and practice of human capital management is evaluated by Mizuho Research & Technologies Co., Ltd. using a scoring method they developed based on internationally reliable guidelines such as ISO30414 and the “Guideline for Visualization of Human Capital” by the Japanese Government. Mizuho Bank and the participants will provide commitment line to borrowers that meet or exceed a certain score.

Kawasaki recognizes that enhancement of human capital is an important factor to achieve the growth scenario set in Group Vision 2030. In accordance with this and in line with the Kawasaki Group Policy on Human Resource Management, the company is implementing various measures to secure and develop diverse range of human resources, create an environment to enable their individuality and capabilities, and realize employees and organizations to take on challenges continually in a positive manner.

Mizuho Bank and Mizuho Research & Technologies gave the highest scores for the disclosure of the following areas:

●Human Resource Development Area
Kawasaki is executing various initiatives, such as holding a meeting for transferring skills and establishing a skills education center, "Takumi Juku," systematically transfer skills of its engineers to the younger future generation.

●Governance Area
The Company-wide HR Management Committee, in which the President and internal company presidents participate, discusses and reviews policies for the development and utilization of human resources.

Kawasaki will continue to accelerate its sustainable management initiative to realize the Group Vision 2030 and strengthen engagement with stakeholders, thereby contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals and the realization of a sustainable society.


*     A contract in which the lender promises to execute a loan at the borrower's request within the conditions of the contracted term and credit line.
