Conclusion of “Mizuho Eco Finance” Commitment Line Agreement

Tokyo, March 31, 2022 - Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. has announced today that it has concluded a commitment line agreement (hereinafter, the Agreement) with Mizuho Bank for “Mizuho Eco Finance” as Kawasaki sustainable finance initiatives. The agreement is structured in syndication and will provide financial support for climate change initiatives of Kawasaki from Mizuho Bank and participating financial institutions.
“Mizuho Eco Finance” is an environmental evaluation product in which Mizuho Bank incorporates highly reliable environmental certifications into the evaluation criteria with the aim of promoting the transition to a decarbonized society. The product uses an environmental certifications and evaluations developed by Mizuho Research & Technologies, Ltd. to score customers on decarbonization initiatives and indicators, and Mizuho Bank provides loans to customers who meet or exceed a certain score.
Kawasaki established its "Kawasaki Global Environmental Vision 2050" in August 2017, and declared its intention to achieve zero emissions in its business activities as "CO2 Free". The company also expressed its support for the recommendations of the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) in September 2019. These initiatives have been highly evaluated and led to the conclusion of this agreement for the first time in the heavy industry.
Through these activities, Kawasaki will accelerate their sustainability management initiatives to realize the Group Vision 2030 and strengthen their engagement with stakeholders to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and a sustainable society.
