Tokyo, August 4, 2021 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced its August release of a new selection of ECO SERVO Light and ECO SERVO Avant products. These lineups comprise eco-friendly, electric–hydraulic hybrid servo systems that combine the advantages of both electric-drive and hydraulic systems.

ECO SERVO products utilize a hydraulic pump and motor in combination to control the speed of the hydraulic pump in response to the operation of an actuator. This enables industry-leading energy savings and noise reduction results.
In order to facilitate the use of ECO SERVO products by as many customers as possible, Kawasaki has created standardized, function-specific model types featuring a design that integrates the ECO SERVO, tank and valve block into a single energy-saving hydraulic equipment package. Providing a selection of ECO SERVO Light and ECO SERVO Avant models tailored to differing user needs makes it possible for customers to realize energy savings in their own facilities.

Moving forward, Kawasaki will continue making contributions to energy savings and lower carbon emissions in the industrial machinery field through the development and manufacture of ECO SERVO products.

1. ECO SERVO Series Features

Series Features
Package-type products
(both Light and Avant models)
・Electric motor speed control reduces power consumption and thus contributes to lower CO2 emissions
・Utilizes a highly reliable piston pump to facilitate more reliable, stable equipment operation
・Adoption of a sealed tank enables use of far smaller quantities of tank oil, thus helping reduce the equipment’s environmental load
・Achieves improved equipment performance and shorter cycle times through high pressure (maximum operating pressure of 32 MPa) and high responsiveness
・Equipment networking possible using CC-Link*1
Light ・Uses an inverter to drive an open-circuit-type piston pump
・Specifically designed for flow control and pressure control, facilitating high user-friendliness and easy introduction in user facilities
Avant ・Uses a servo motor to drive a closed-circuit-type piston pump
・In addition to the features of the Light models, Avant models include cylinder positioning control, highly responsive performance, regenerative power supply functionality*2 and other such features, enabling both energy savings and high performance for user facilities
*1    CC-Link: An optional feature that can be added for industrial networking purposes
*2    Available as an optional addition
