Mobile Generator Sets
(Kawasaki MGP/TGP Series)
A mobile generator set is a mobile private generation system in which a truck or trailer is equipped with a power plant, alternator and other incidental equipment. These systems are effective as emergency power supplies in case of a disaster or large-scale power outage, and as temporary power sources for jobs such as power line installation or inspection. The outstanding features of Kawasaki gas turbines—compact and lightweight, no need for cooling water, and outstanding starting reliability—are truly ideal for mobile generator sets.
System Configuration Example
A gas turbine and speed reducer are integrated, and then coupled with an alternator via a coupler. These components are all mounted on a common bed, and together with peripheral equipment form an extremely compact unit.

Features of Kawasaki MGP/TGP
1. No worries about vibration or noise
Since gas turbines are rotary motion engines with no reciprocating parts, there is almost no vibration. Also, the main component of the produced noise is in the easily attenuated high-frequency range. Extremely effective noise reduction is achieved using silencers and soundproof panels with a simple structure.
The system can be used in urban areas or at night without worries about vibration or noise.
2. No need for cooling water
No cooling water is necessary because the system is self-cooling.
Therefore, there are no worries about engine trouble or freezing due to the use of cooling water, and no need for water-related maintenance.
3. Robust in cold weather, and starts without fail
No cooling water is necessary, and the gas turbine has no sliding parts so it is structurally robust in cold conditions. Even with cold region specifications, there is no need for a large heating system used in diesel mobile generator sets. Another attractive feature of gas turbines is that they can connect a full load without warm-up operation.
Kerosene can be used for this system in addition to diesel and heavy oil A. If kerosene is used, startup without heating is possible up to -25℃.
4. Proven high reliability
The tremendous number of units delivered from Kawasaki's PU Series of stationary gas turbine generation systems is evidence of their high reliability. In addition to the advantages of being a high-speed rotary engine which requires no cooling water, the simple structure developed for alternator drive improves reliability. Furthermore this is a 100% Japanese-made gas turbine developed by Kawasaki, so it is worry-free in terms of parts supply and after-sales service.
5. Enables parallel operation
By using synchronized operation equipment, it is possible to operate in parallel with diesel generator sets and mobile generator sets as well as gas turbine generator sets and mobile generator sets.
6. Provides stable, high-quality electricity, with extra momentary overload absorption capacity
Since Kawasaki gas turbines are the single-shaft type, there is little rotation irregularity with a fixed load or rotation speed fluctuation when the load varies. They can provide stable, quality electricity. Furthermore, the main shaft of the gas turbine rotates at high speed, and as a result it has a high equivalent inertia, and can easily absorb momentary overloading. These systems have overload capacity 1.5-2 times more than that of diesel power sources in the same class.
