Contract Signing of Waste Heat Power Generation System for Cement Plant in Turkey

Tokyo, August 02, 2010 - Marubeni Corporation “hereinafter called as MARUBENI” and Kawasaki Plant Systems, Ltd. “hereinafter called as K-PLANT” as a group company of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. have signed the contract to supply Waste Heat Power Generation system for cement plant with Cimsa Cimento Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. “hereinafter called as CIMSA” which is private cement manufacturer in Turkey.
The contract amount is approx. JPY 1 billion, power generation capacity of this system is around 8.7MW and its commercial operation will be scheduled in 2012.
For the execution of this project, MARUBENI acts as prime contractor, while K-PLANT provides overall plant engineering and Anhui Conch Kawasaki Engineering Co., Ltd. which is K-PLANT’s J/V company in China supplies main equipments.
CIMSA is a cement manufacturer under Sabanci Holdings which is the biggest conglomerate in Turkey, and has main cement factory in Mersin whose production capacity is 5,000 tons/day of cement products.
Waste Heat Power Generation system for cement plant is designed to recover waste heat from the calcining process with waste heat boilers, and generate electricity with steam turbine and generator. This energy-saving system can utilize waste heat to generate electricity to cover approx. 30% of the in-house power consumption of a cement plant, while reducing CO2 emissions approx. 40,000 tons per year.
This contract has been realized in line with MARUBENI’s capability for project coordination and product marketing, as well as K-PLANT’s advanced technology and proven track records. MARUBENI and K-PLANT will continue the best efforts to promote environmental friendly equipments for cement plant including Waste Heat Power Generation system from now on.
