New Kawasaki Ifrit Once-Through Boilers Industry’s Most Efficient

Tokyo, February 12, 2009 — Kawasaki Thermal Engineering Co., Ltd. announced today that it has developed a new line of Ifrit large gas-fired once-through boilers with a maximum working pressure of 0.98 MPa. This new addition to the Ifrit family, featuring a more compact body and the industry’s highest boiler efficiency of 98%, will be released in April 2009.

The large-size Ifrit once-through boilers feature:
(1) Superior control systems equivalent to those for large-size boilers generating high quality vapor;
(2) Outstanding efficiency and a compact design.
Since its launch in 2000, the Ifrit series of boilers’ superior steam pressure stability, high efficiency and quick start-up capability have made it the perfect solution for everything from industrial heating to cogeneration back up systems.

The new Ifrit once-through boiler employs a newly developed high-performance compact body to increase boiler efficiency from 96% to 98% while incorporating all of the series’ signature features. Thanks to its enhanced performance and high part load efficiency made possible by the continuous combustion control mechanism inherited from its predecessors, this new Ifrit reduces both fuel costs and CO2 emissions by 6% annually compared with conventional small once-through boilers fitted with a three-element control system, and 2% more than conventional Ifrit models.

The all new body design’s reduced footprint is 25% smaller than Kawasaki’s small once-through boilers. A color LCD touch panel and LED indicators also make the new Ifrit completely user-friendly.
