Kawasaki to Participate in Afforestation Project

Tokyo, December 12, 2008 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it has agreed to work with the Hyogo Prefectural Government, the Taka-cho Municipal Government, and the National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization on an afforestation project in Hyogo Prefecture. The project, which will take place on a 14 ha property located in Taka-cho, has been named Kawasaki Saidani Nagomino Mori. An official signing ceremony will be held on December 16 at the Hyogo Prefectural Government office.

The afforestation project is part of Hyogo’s prefecture-wide initiative to promote joint activities among local companies and communities toward recovery of forests that have been undermanaged.

Operating throughout the prefecture, Kawasaki will work on the project with an eye to developing a harmonious relationship with the local community while contributing to the promotion of local forestry, watershed protection, and the mitigation of global warming. Kawasaki is committed to conservation of the global environment and will strive to raise environmental awareness among its employees through afforestation activities.

Activities:Planting trees, clearing underbush, trimming trees, and other afforestation activities as part of employee environmental training and education
