Tokyo, February 29, 2008 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it will release the Ninja 250R in Japan on April 5. The Ninja 250R is a 250 cc sportbike fitted with a new full-fairing.

Motorcycle riders today have different wants and needs. While some enjoy hitting the back roads and touring at a leisurely pace, others like to cruise the city streets in style. Then there are those who prefer a sportbike to a scooter. More and more riders are demanding a wider number of motorcycle choices that suit their diverse lifestyles.

Kawasaki was quick to respond to this market need with the release of the Ninja 250R, offering supersport styling in a bike designed to deliver real world performance to riders of all skill levels. The Ninja 250R is equipped with a 248 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, parallel twin-cylinder DOHC four-valve engine on top of a striking full-fairing bodywork that’s on a par with any top-of-the-line Ninja supersport bike. This machine is an easy-to-ride stylish sportbike that’s just as at home on the city streets as it is on the back roads. The Ninja 250R also boasts superior environmental performance that meets the new Japanese exhaust emissions standards.

The Ninja 250R’s lightweight and compact chassis is friendly enough to make confident riders out of beginners but still has the authentic Ninja style and performance that makes it a perfect second bike for big bike owners.

Engine

· New 248 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, parallel twin-cylinder DOHC four-valve engine delivers smooth, step-free power with an emphasis on low- and mid-range power

· Equipped with a fuel injection system. Fine-atomizing injectors spray droplets of fuel no bigger than 60 microns to ensure smooth power characteristics as well as excellent throttle response in the mid to high rpm range.

· Equipped with the 2-into-1 exhaust system employing honeycomb catalyzers in the collector pipe and a silencer along with a fuel injection system for superior environmental performance that meets the new Japanese exhaust emissions standards.

Chassis

· Separate seats with a low height of 775 mm and wide, raised handlebars for a more natural riding position combined with a lightweight and compact chassis that makes the bike easy to control even for beginners.

· Full-fairing bodywork on par with that of top-class Ninja supersports for a great look as well as improved wind protection.

· Front and rear disc brakes with a single 290-mm front petal disc and a single 220-mm rear petal disc combined with a two-piston caliper for each wheel offer excellent braking performance and a natural, direct feeling at the lever and the pedal.

· Sharp dual-lamp headlight design and turn signals with sleek clear lenses that enhance visibility as well as looks.

· Large-diameter speedometer along with a tachometer, odometer, trip meter and a low fuel warning light.
