Tokyo, January 12, 2007 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it will release its new ESTRELLA in Japan on February 14. The new model is equipped with a fuel injected engine that complies with new emissions standards.

The ESTRELLA incorporates classic styling and the sheer mechanical simplicity of a 249-cc air-cooled four-stroke single cylinder engine with its distinctive exhaust sound. It has appealed to a wide range of ages since its launch in 1992.

The new ESTRELLA has kept its same classic design while adding cutting-edge environmental performance and improved equipment.

Equipped with a fuel injection system and honeycomb catalyst structure to comply with the new emissions standards and to improve cold-start performance.
A low tandem seat height of 735 mm makes it easy for a rider to put both feet on the ground. The rear end of the seat is raised up for enhanced passenger comfort.
A 300-mm floating front disc brake and compact 160-mm rear drum brake allow for sufficient braking power and precision control.
Features a thin simply designed electric speedo/tachometer. The speedometer is equipped with an LCD clock/odometer/trip meter.
Equipped with an easy-to-operate, push-cancel turn signal switch. A hazard warning switch boosts safety in case of emergency.
The combined steering lock and ignition switch employs a tamper-resistant mechanism that immobilizes the electrical system whenever a foreign substance is inserted.
