NIPPI Attains ISO 14001 Certification

Tokyo, December 27, 2006 — NIPPI Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., announced today that it has attained the ISO 14001 certification from the Bouei Choutatsu Kiban Seibi Kyoukai (Defense Procurement Framework Establishment Association of Japan). NIPPI develops, designs, manufactures, repairs, modifies and maintains fixed and rotary wing aircraft and their parts, as well as ground support equipment, target systems for shooting training, parts for space equipment, components for guidance systems, and synthetic resinified products. The certification attained this time covers all these business fields. NIPPI has introduced an ISO-based operational system and incorporated an environmental management system, while also enhancing its environment protection activities. Those efforts have resulted in attainment of the ISO 14001 certification. Kawasaki has recently established a new corporate vision: “Enriching lifestyles and helping safeguard the environment.” Based on this vision, it will continue to work on activities to improve environmental management systems throughout the Group. At the same time, Kawasaki will make its manufacturing process more eco-friendly and strengthen product development capabilities with regard to the environment, and contribute to the goal of realizing a sustainable society. |
