Kawasaki Receives Vietnam Cement Plant Order

Sep. 05, 2006

Tokyo, September 5, 2006 – Kawasaki Plant Systems, Ltd. (K Plant) today announced that it has received a ¥12 billion order for a cement plant from But Son Joint Cement Company, under the umbrella of the Vietnam National Cement Corporation (Hanoi). The 4,000 tons/day plant, the second at its Ha Nam facility, will be completed in June 2009.

K Plant will provide designs for the entire production process, from raw materials receipt to product shipment. It will also supply all the main equipment, including a raw material mill, a coal mill and a rotary kiln, as well as technical services for engineering and installation, and test runs. The plant—capable of comprehensive cement production from raw material to crushing, calcining and shipping—will help meet Vietnam’s dramatic rise in cement demand.

With infrastructure projects booming, Vietnam’s domestic cement supply has been stretched to the limit, and imports have had to supplement it. The country has thus been focusing on constructing new plants and expanding/renewing existing ones.

K Plant was awarded a contract for a cement plant in Cam Pha, Quang Ninh Province, through Vinaconex in 2005, for which it earned a reputation for reliability and technical expertise. The company will leverage its track record and technological edge to continue expanding its overseas markets.
