Kawasaki Wins Cogeneration System Order for Turkey
Jul. 05, 2004
Kawasaki has received a full turnkey order for a 14,000kW-class cogeneration system from Bourgaz Energy Production Autoproducer Group Company, a heat and power producer under the umbrella of Garipoglu Corporate Group of Turkey. The system is scheduled to be delivered at the beginning of 2005. The contract also includes four-year maintenance services.
The cogeneration system is comprised of two gas turbine power generation systems that are each equipped with a 7,000kW-class Kawasaki M7A-02 gas turbine and a heat recovery boiler. It can provide approximately 14,000kW of electricity and about 30 tons of steam per hour.
The Garipoglu Corporate Group is a conglomerate with businesses ranging from plastics to food, metals and textiles. The ordered cogeneration system will be installed at AKMAYA, a yeast producer within the Group located in Luleburgaz, to provide power and steam to its plant. Moreover, the surplus power will be provided to other Garipoglu Group companies via a public power transmission company. Installation of this cogeneration system will enable AKMAYA to significantly reduce energy costs, and create a framework that ensures stable power supply to its plant through operation of over 8,000 hours per year.
For Kawasaki, this is the first order of a large-scale power generation facility with multiple 7,000kW-class gas turbines in the European region. It also marks the second order in Turkey following the 7,000kW-class gas turbine power generation equipment delivered to a textile company in 2003.
