Order for Offshore Natural Gas Compression Module for India
Jan. 14, 2004
Kawasaki has received an order for natural gas compressor packages, of which two are gas turbine-driven and another four are motor-driven, and engineering services for an offshore gas compression module from Hyundai Heavy Industries, Co., Ltd. (Korea). The module is for a Natural Gas Field Development Project being conducted by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) off Mumbai (Bombay), India.
A compression module is a compact facility comprising a compressor, driver, gas cooler, scrubber, valve, controllers and other equipment that compresses natural gas at sea and transports it to land via underwater pipelines. This module concept enables optimum installation in the limited space on offshore platforms.
The compression module will be assembled at Hyundai’s fabrication yard in Ulsan, Korea. This delivery, scheduled for September 2004, marks the 44th order for Kawasaki’s compression module, 30 units of which have been supplied to India.
