Kawasaki operated a booth at the International Motorcycle Show, one of the largest exhibitions of its kind in Europe, which was held in Paris from September 27 to October 7, 2001. On the first day of the show, more than 400 journalists attended a press briefing held in the booth. They were treated to video presentations of Kawasaki's six new models for 2002 (ZZ-R1200, Ninja ZX-12R, Ninja ZX-9R, Ninja ZX-6R, VN 1500 Mean Streak and KLX110), and heard the good news that Kawasaki will return to Grand Prix racing full time from 2003 with a 4-stroke model in the newly created Moto GP category.
The show was open to the public starting on the second day and attracted hordes of aficionados, many of whom arrived at the arena hours before the doors opened. Visitors to Kawasaki's booth were particularly excited about the ZZ-R1200, the successor to the ZZ-R1100, which has many fans around the world.
