Collaboration with Suzuki on Motorcycles, ATVs
Aug. 29, 2001
Kawasaki announced on August 29 that it will form a strategic business partnership with Suzuki Motor Corporation in the spirit of reciprocity and equality. The two companies will cooperate in such areas as product development, design, procurement, OEM supply, engineering and manufacturing of motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles.
The agreement aims to boost the competitiveness and profitability of the companies' motorcycle and ATV businesses by allowing them to put complementary resources to best use amid increasing globalization and intensifying competition in the industry.
Kawasaki and Suzuki will collaborate initially on such types and models as the American, Big Scooter, Motocrosser and ATVs to derive immediate synergy out of the arrangement. Marketing and sales activities will continue to be conducted separately, and there will be no changes to the brands or sales networks.
Both companies expect the new relationship to ensure that they can respond to a variety of customer needs and contribute to the healthy growth of the industry.
