Kawasaki Launches the KX327X Cross-Country and KX327 Motocross Models — A Full-Size 2-Stroke Joins the KX Series for the First Time in 19 Years —
Jun. 03, 2026

Kawasaki Motors, part of the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group, will release the KX327X cross-country model and the KX327 motocross model in the United States and other launch markets starting from June 2, 2026 (U.S. time). In Japan, the KX327X is scheduled to go on sale around winter 2026.
A full-size 2-stroke model*2 joins Kawasaki’s off-road KX series for the first time in 19 years*3. A newly developed 327 cm3 liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine—Kawasaki’s first 2-stroke engine to feature fuel injection—is mounted in a chassis based on that of the KX450F to deliver exceptional controllability. Light by virtue of its 2-stroke design, the engine produces strong, flat torque from ultra-low to mid rpm, enabling stable riding on unpaved or rocky terrain and delivering the joy of tackling trail rides and off-road races together with family and friends.
The KX327X cross-country model is equipped with a 6-speed transmission and an 18-inch rear wheel for trail riding, while the KX327 motocross model features a 5-speed transmission and a 19-inch rear wheel suited to motocross tracks.
Kawasaki Motors’ corporate mission is “Working for the happiness and joy of all those whose lives Kawasaki touches.” By continuously launching new models focused on customer value and expanding its lineup, Kawasaki aims to realize the “Good Times Company” corporate philosophy through sustainable growth driven by enhancing the value of the Kawasaki brand.

Main Features
■Engine
- Kawasaki’s First Fuel-Injected 2-Stroke Engine
Kawasaki’s first fuel-injected 2-stroke engine—a newly developed 327 cm3 liquid-cooled 2-stroke single—delivers a linear character with minimal abrupt torque fluctuations from ultra-low rpm all the way to the top end thanks to precise fuel and ignition mapping. Compared to 4-stroke engines, its lighter weight and easier maintenance further enhance manageability in every sense of the word. - Newly Developed Exhaust Valve System
A newly developed exhaust valve system smooths out the peaky power delivery typical of 2-stroke engines, delivering uniform, linear torque across the entire rpm range. - Electric Starter
An electric starter lets the rider restart the engine simply by pushing a button on the right handlebar, even after a stall following a spill—further boosting competitiveness in races. - Hydraulic Clutch
A hydraulic clutch provides a direct feel and light lever action. Changes in clutch play caused by heat build-up are minimal, helping to maintain a consistent, stable feel at the lever. - 6-speed Transmission with Ultra-Low Gear (KX327X)
The 6-speed transmission covers a wide range of riding conditions and, paired with the engine’s strong low-rpm performance, enables smooth progress through rough terrain and over obstacles.
■Chassis
- Lightweight Aluminum Perimeter Frame
Based on the KX450F, the frame balances light, agile handling and a composed character at a high level. An optimized rigidity balance enhances agile handling and straight-line stability while delivering excellent cornering performance across a wide range of surface conditions. In addition, the rigidity balance and layout of the lower pipes have been optimized to better handle obstacles and varied surface conditions encountered in cross-country riding. - Factory-Style Suspension and Brakes
The suspension features a high-performance ø48 mm inverted AOS coil-spring front fork and New Uni-Trak rear suspension developed with race feedback, both finely adjustable to suit conditions. For the brakes, Nissin calipers and master cylinders are paired with ø270 mm front and ø240 mm rear petal discs to deliver strong stopping power and control. - ODI Lock-On Grips
Medium-compound ODI Lock-On Grips offer an excellent grip feel, while their screw-type fastening system makes swapping grips easy. - Slim, Ergonomic Bodywork
Smooth bodywork inherited from Kawasaki’s full-size KX models allows a high degree of freedom in riding position. The shape of the engine shrouds has been optimized to allow smooth weight transfer, while the well-contoured seat offers moderate grip and supports quick position changes through corners and technical sections—contributing to responsiveness that translates the rider’s inputs directly into machine behavior. - Adjustable Ergonomics
A choice of four handlebar positions and two footpeg positions allows riders to tailor their riding position to suit body size and preference. - Essential Cross-Country Equipment (KX327X)
In addition to a large 8.6 L semi-transparent fuel tank that allows the fuel level to be checked from the outside, hand guards, a skid plate that protects the engine, a linkage guard that protects the lower part of the rear suspension, a rear brake disc guard, and a side stand are equipped as standard.
■Design
- Athlete Look
With bodywork that has less surface area than previous KX models and aggressive lines, the KX327X/KX327 expresses a clean, taut, athlete-inspired look with no excess. - Fit & Smooth
The engine shrouds, side covers, and rear fender are smoothly designed to not interfere with rider movement, accentuating a smart image and functional beauty. - Aggressive Green
All bodywork—from the front fender and front number plate to the engine shrouds, side covers, and rear fender—is Lime Green, giving the bike a presence that is instantly recognizable as a KX.
■Electronics
- Power Modes
Using the mode (M) button on the left handlebar, riders can quickly and easily switch between two engine maps. - Smartphone Connectivity
By using the smartphone application “RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX2” in conjunction with the bike’s GPS, riders can record their riding logs on the trail or at the track. The app also enables real-time engine monitoring and includes maintenance reminders.
