Kawasaki Signs Contract to Provide MAG Turbo M55 Magnetic-bearing-type Aeration Blower to Little Blue Valley Sewer District Wastewater Treatment Plant in Missouri, USA
May 18, 2026
Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today its signing of a contract to provide a MAG Turbo M55 magnetic-bearing-type aeration blower to a wastewater treatment plant operated by the Little Blue Valley Sewer District (LBVSD), a public wastewater treatment utility in Missouri, USA.
LBVSD concluded this contract with Kawasaki for purposes of improving energy efficiency and ensuring stable operations at their wastewater treatment facility. To that end, Kawasaki will supply the M55, which is the highest-output model in its MAG Turbo lineup. This will be the company’s first provision of an M55 for an American wastewater treatment facility.
The MAG Turbo M55 is an aeration blower that delivers air to biological reaction tanks in wastewater treatment facilities. It uses magnetic bearings for contactless support of the rotor, which eliminates the need for lubrication to reduce maintenance demands while achieving high reliability. Furthermore, by utilizing variable inlet guide vanes and rotational speed control for highly efficient operation, it combines inverter-based speed control with inlet vane control to achieve high partial load efficiency and a wide airflow control range. This enables less power consumption and flexible operation at wastewater treatment facilities, delivering world class energy saving performance. As a result, it offers superior power consumption efficiency compared with conventional blowers.
In wastewater treatment facilities, blower equipment accounts for approximately 40% of total electricity usage. In this regard, introduction of the large-capacity, highly efficient MAG Turbo M55 makes significant contributions to the reduction of plant energy consumption as a whole.
Since Kawasaki’s first delivery of a MAG Turbo blower in 2004, it has supplied numerous facilities in Japan and abroad with equipment from the series, with a central focus on wastewater treatment plants. This latest order from LBVSD is a reflection of Kawasaki’s technological strengths, product quality, and contract fulfillment capabilities in public institution projects cultivated through its experience over the years.
LBVSD provides wastewater infrastructure that supports the lives of local residents in Missouri, USA, and their introduction of the MAG Turbo M55 is expected to help reduce energy consumption and preserve sustainable water environments throughout the area.
Moving forward, Kawasaki will continue to realize greater energy savings and reduce environmental impacts in wastewater treatment facilities through high-efficiency MAG Turbo blowers while actively contributing to infrastructure improvements both domestically and internationally.
