Tokyo, March 4, 2026 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced the signing of an MOU (hereinafter “the present MOU”) with Alderley Saudi Arabia (ALDERLEY), a metering system integrator for the Saudi Arabian oil and gas industry, for a service partnership for centrifugal hydrogen compressors for the country’s oil and gas industry. The service partnership includes cooperation for local packaging work, sales, and maintenance. In July 2025 Kawasaki signed an MOU with ALDERLEY for cooperation on centrifugal compressor packages and will now gradually strengthen local cooperation in preparation for a future shift to a hydrogen-oriented society in Saudi Arabia.

The present MOU was signed on January 11, 2026 at the Saudi Japan Ministerial Investment Forum held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in the presence of Mr. Ryosei Akazawa, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, Saudi Arabian Minister of Investment. The present MOU establishes a cooperative framework with a local partner to accelerate business growth in the entire Middle East market, with a view towards future cooperation in the field of hydrogen compressors.

Recent years have seen increasing global demand for electricity due to the spread of AI and growth of the data center market, in parallel with a trend for decarbonization and diversification of energy supplies. In its “Vision 2030,” Saudi Arabia is promoting industrial diversification and inviting investment alongside a stable supply of oil and gas. Kawasaki has already supplied numerous centrifugal gas compressors to the country’s major energy companies for gas delivery and process applications at oil refineries among others, and has become highly trusted due to its comprehensive service and support.

Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries are promoting decarbonization by measures including national strategies that focus on the heart of the hydrogen value chain. The present localization activities are not just a response to the ongoing local demand for gas compressors. Kawasaki is looking at Saudi Arabia as a potential strategic base for its hydrogen compressor business and one of the future markets for the large-scale centrifugal hydrogen compressors for pure hydrogen now under development.

Kawasaki will continue to strengthen cooperation with local energy companies in Saudi Arabia, offer solutions to increasing global demands for energy, and contribute to the realization of a carbon neutral society by developing future hydrogen business.
