Participation in the World Ports Conference 2025

Oct. 14, 2025

From October 7 to 9, 2025, Kawasaki participated in the World Ports Conference 2025 (WPC2025), organized by the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH)*.

WPC2025 is a global event where key stakeholders discuss the challenges faced by ports, which play a vital role in international maritime trade.

As a sponsor, Kawasaki hosted a booth and a site tour organized by the City of Kobe. We presented our efforts toward building a liquefied hydrogen supply chain, using slides to showcase our progress toward commercialization. Many port professionals from around the world were able to gain a tangible understanding of our initiatives.

The site tour attracted approximately 150 port stakeholders, who boarded a cruise vessel to view Hy Touch Kobe and Suiso Frontier from the sea, experiencing the scale of the project firsthand.

On October 3, ahead of WPC2025, the IAPH Technical Working Group’s Port Readiness Level Cargo Meeting was held in Kobe.

Kawasaki, together with the CO2-Free Hydrogen Energy Supply-chain Research Association (HySTRA), gave a presentation on the construction requirements and operational safety management of ”Hy touch Kobe,” as well as the submission of an IMO report based on demonstration data from the “Suiso Frontier.” Through active discussions with key technical leaders from major global ports, we deepened international technical collaboration. Additionally, on October 6, the day before WPC2025, Mr. Jens Meier, President of IAPH and CEO of Hamburg Port Authority, along with other senior port officials, visited the “Future Life Expo: Future City” at Expo 2025. He experienced Kawasaki’s vision for sustainable mobility of the future.

*IAPH is the only international NGO that brings together port authorities and stakeholders from around the world, aiming to promote the development of global ports and foster international exchange.
