Kawasaki Delivers One Next-generation CK Mill for Advanced Cement Grinding to Anhui Conch Cement
Mar. 25, 2025
Tokyo, March 25, 2025 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that Anhui Conch Kawasaki Energy Conservation Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (CKM), a joint venture between Kawasaki and China’s Anhui Conch Group,*1 has delivered their first next-generation CK Mill for cement grinding in China to Shuicheng Conch Cement, a member of the same Group.
The CK Mill is a vertical roller designed for cement-grinding mill. It is primarily used for raw meal grinding, where the main raw material (limestone) and auxiliary raw materials (clay, silica, iron material, etc.) are dried and ground together, as well as for finish grinding, where clinker (made by sintering raw materials) and auxiliary raw materials such as gypsum and limestone are ground to produce cement.
Product Features
- | This is a large-sized vertical roller mill designed for full finish grinding, boasts Kawasaki’s greatest operation-tested production output of 300 tons per hour. |
- | Unlike The previous CK Mill which uses an integrated grinder and classification*2 mechanism, with the ground product transported upward via air conveyance to the upper section for classification, the Next-generation CK Mill separates these two mechanisms and uses a bucket elevator to mechanically transport the ground materials upward. This design reduces gas supply volume requirements for the equipment, mitigates pressure loss, and reduces electricity consumption previously required by induced-draft fan operation, thus enabling control of gas supply amounts by individual production line as well as easy line optimization. Moreover, this configuration facilitates introduction of cooled air in the classification line, thus reducing the final cement temperature compared with the previous CK Mill. |
- | Improved grinding roller configuration and product classification mechanisms, along with changing the pressing mechanism's stand material from steel plates to concrete, that have been made the cement production process more environmentally friendly. These improvements greatly reduce equipment vibrations and reduced power consumption by approximately 35 to 50 percent compared to conventional tube mills, thus enabling more energy-efficient performance. (This product is a Kawasaki Ecological Frontiers registered product*3). |
Since delivering its first CK Mill in 1985, Kawasaki has expanded its sales in Japan and foreign markets, primarily in East and Southeast Asia. To date, the company has secured a total of 156 CK Mill orders. KHI expects growing demand for finish-grinding models with capacities exceeding 200 tons per hour as replacements for aging tube mills and other such equipment. Following this latest Next-generation CK Mill delivery, Kawasaki continues to leverage its technological capabilities and experience in cement-production equipment to actively develop and expand its product offerings.
*1 | The Anhui Conch Group, the parent corporation of Anhui Conch Cement, China's largest cement company as well as one of the world's top cement manufacturers, is involved in cement, construction materials, environmental, trading and other businesses. |
*2 | “Classification” is a process that separates and sorts solid particles by size. The CK Mill utilizes adjustments of gas-flow inertial force to achieve user-specified particle size. |
*3 | Kawasaki Ecological Frontiers registered products are those which have been certified under a Kawasaki system as meeting proprietary environmental standards. They are outstanding products that both demonstrate improvements in environmental performance and reduce the environmental impact of production processes. |
