Kawasaki Introduces First Electric Four-Wheeled Vehicle: The NAV Series ― Offering a Clean, Quiet, Comfortable Ride Only Possible with Electric ―

Tokyo, February 26, 2025 — Kawasaki Motors, Ltd. announced today that it is set to launch the NAV series of personal transport vehicles (PTVs), Kawasaki’s first electric four-wheeled vehicles, in the United States and Canada beginning in February 2025.

In recent years need has been growing for vehicles offering comfortable, convenient transport inside newly developed residential areas in the U.S. and other parts of North America. To meet this need, PTVs are quickly becoming a popular form of transport for families with school-aged children thanks to their small size and mobility, ease of getting in and out, little space needed to park, and the ability to avoid traffic by driving in special PTV lanes. Also, as the move toward carbon neutrality accelerates worldwide, electrification of PTVs is also on the rise.

The name “NAV” is short for “navigation,” which fits with the series’ convenient character and intended use as light transport within communities. The comfortable ride each NAV model offers is a direct result of Kawasaki’s experience designing offroad four-wheeled vehicles. This, along with a user-friendly exterior and interior and the ability to carry large items suits the NAV series well to the market, and is part of offering a lifestyle in which families can get around in their communities in a clean, convenient way.
Customers can choose from three variations: the NAV 4e with a lead-acid battery, or the NAV 4e LE and NAV 4e LIMITED, which both feature a lithium-ion battery.

Main Features

Power Unit/Chassis

  1. Smooth Simple Induction Motor
    The induction motor features a simple design and high reliability with a rated output of 4.0 kW (maximum output 10.7 kW). Delivering smooth acceleration, a gentle power feel, and ease of maintaining speed, the NAV offers an all-around relaxed and enjoyable ride.
  2. Two Types of Batteries
    The standard model NAV 4e features a lead-acid battery with excellent value for money, while the NAV 4e LE and NAV 4e LIMITED are equipped with a lightweight, long-life lithium-ion battery.
  3. Chassis Design
    TThe NAV 4e’s solid steel ladder frame and suspension were developed based on Kawasaki’s knowhow from designing and manufacturing well-known and trusted side x sides. They provide comfortable ride quality, making it an excellent daily driver for short distances.

Exterior

  1. Unique Kawasaki Front End Look
    The NAV’s front end was designed with the same design philosophy as Kawasaki's offroad four-wheelers. With a prominent Kawasaki emblem at the center, the front-end design includes sporty-looking LED headlights with integrated turn signals for a clean look on top, and a grille with a honeycomb design reminiscent of an EV vehicle below. The resulting unique Kawasaki looks are different from any other PTV on the market.
  2. Premium Lifted Style
    The high position of the driver's and passenger's seats, along with the raised front fenders and large wheels and tires, form the lifted style. These also contribute to the NAV 4e looking like premium piece of equipment.
  3. Offroad-Style Wheels and Tires
    A sporty, active image is achieved with 14-inch offroad-style wheels fitted with rugged-looking 23-inch tyres with an offroad-style tread pattern, which contribute to the NAV 4e’s premium stylish looks.

Interior

  1. Roomy Intuitive Interior Layout
    The NAV 4e offers plenty of legroom not only for the driver and passenger but for the rear occupants as well, with special consideration given to a comfortable ride for all. It also offers a highly visible 1.5-inch TFT color LCD instrument panel.
  2. Elegant and Comfortable Seats
    The two-tone, amply cushioned bench seats feature elegant-looking needlework and provide excellent ride comfort in addition to a sense of luxury. To add to the interior comfort, the seats were designed to offer the ideal seated position for driving.
  3. Rear Fold-Flat Seat
    In a first for the forward-facing 4-passenger short-wheelbase PTV category*, the NAV 4e’s Fold-Flat Seat in the rear can fold to create a flat space for carrying larger items.

  4. Functional Front/Rear Storage
    Complementing a 23 L storage space under the front hood, a 2 L storage pocket is featured on the left side of the dashboard, a 4 L storage box with a lid is located in the center, and a lockable 6 L glove box is conveniently placed on the right side. In addition, an 11 L storage area at the rear of the vehicle offers a wide variety of choices to store luggage while the NAV 4e LIMITED features a storage net behind the front seats for smaller items.
  5. Convenience-Centered Features
    Cup holders, a USB power outlet for each passenger, an audio system compatible with smartphone apps (NAV 4e LIMITED), and floor lighting (NAV 4e LIMITED) make the time spent getting around in the NAV 4e convenient and enjoyable.

    Many accessories are available, including a flip-down polycarbonate windshield (standard on NAV 4e LIMITED), premium PTV soft enclosure, brush guards, running boards, LED pod light, side mirror set, audio system/subwoofer kit, soft overhead storage, storage net, rear locking storage, cargo barriers, multi-function rack, rear cargo rack, KQR mount, and more.
