Showcasing ALICE SYSTEM – A Futuristic Public Transportation System – at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai
Feb. 13, 2025
The Kawasaki Group will showcase ALICE SYSTEM, its futuristic public transportation system, as a 2050 concept model in the "Transportation & Mobility" category of the "Future Life Expo: Future City" (hereafter, "Future City"), a Future Society Showcase project at the 2025 World Exposition (Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan) which opens on April 13, 2025.

ALICE SYSTEM is a futuristic public transportation system proposed by the Kawasaki Group, which works with land, sea, and air mobility. The concept envisions a comfortable and seamless travel experience in which users simply board an ALICE Cabin that arrives at their departure point, and the Cabin autonomously transfers between different mobility modes to reach their destination.
The Kawasaki Group developed this system based on research showing that humans are predisposed on a genetic level to derive happiness from the act of moving. With this in mind, we established the exhibit theme of "Impulse to Move." The development of social media and other factors have also further stimulated people's desires, leading to stronger aspirations such as "I want to travel abroad" or "I want to have these kinds of experiences." However, when trying to realize these aspirations through travel, people often face stress-inducing situations such as having to transfer between multiple public transportation systems or having to carry large luggage. In addition, some individuals, due to aging or physical conditions, face challenges with mobility itself. This system embodies our desire to address such stresses and challenges associated with movement from the perspective of public transportation mobility, aiming to create a society in which everyone can fulfill their Impulse to Move.
In addition, each mobility component that makes up the ALICE SYSTEM is based on the concept of using hydrogen – an energy source that the Kawasaki Group envisions as central to the future of its business operations. Of these component parts, the ALICE Rail and ALICE Car are expected to be equipped with the O'CUVOID generator, which utilizes a hydrogen engine that was developed for motorcycles. Because these generators can be linked together like batteries according to required power output, they can serve not only as a power source for mobility solutions but also for various applications, including private power generation.
At the Expo venue, ALICE Rail will also be on display, capturing the moment when the ALICE Cabin – central to the futuristic public transportation system known as the ALICE SYSTEM – docks. Visitors will be able to enter a full-scale ALICE Rail unit and experience the future of transportation. Inside the ALICE Cabin, they will see a demonstration of robotic arms providing various forms of support during travel.
With just two months to go until the opening of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, pavilion reservations have already begun. We invite you to reserve your visit to the Future City pavilion and come experience the future of mobility as envisioned by the Kawasaki Group.
