Tokyo, December 19, 2024 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it has begun mass production of the ERUHV , a new electric remote control unit, in December 2024.
The ERUHV is an electric handle designed to operate construction machinery, particularly excavators. In recent years, excavators and other construction machinery have become more multifunctional, and an increasing number of switches need to be added in order to operate the various functions. The ERUHV maintains the easy-to-grip and simple design, which is the advantage of our previous products, while allowing for additional switches to be added as needed by increasing the size to the minimum extent.
Features of the Product
1. | Easy to grip thanks to its simple and compact design |
2. | Electric components feature Ingress Protection code IP67-level dustproof and water-resistant performance, meaning they can be used even in harsh conditions |
3. | Frequently used proportional switches*1 use contactless angle sensors to ensure durability |
4. | Offers a number of switch layouts to meet various needs |
Changes from Existing Products (ERUH)
1. | Increased number of switches while keeping size increase to a minimum (Size increase: 59mm→63mm) (Proportional switches: 1→Max. 3, On/Off switches*2: 6→Max. 8) |
2. | Redesigned proportional and on/off switch layouts create a more favorable sense of control |
3. | Improved durability through revising the body structure |
4. | Lighter thanks to changing the treatment method of the surface of the handle (Change from using a rubber layer to soft-touch painting*3) |
Kawasaki began mass production of handle-type electric remote control units in 2005, and since then, we have improved the functions to meet the changing needs of the market. To date, construction machinery makers and others have purchased approximately 2.5 million units in total. The mass-produced ERUHV has been developed to realize further improved durability and usability, using technological abilities fostered through around 20 years of product development. It will contribute to improving the added value and quality of construction machinery.
Going forward, we will continue to utilize the technological abilities and track record we have built up to date while working to achieve further improved product value, and contribute to the realization of rich lifestyles by improving the safety and productivity of building/infrastructure construction.
