The theme was selected in light of research showing that humans are predisposed on a genetic level to derive happiness from the act of moving. Brain imaging analysis has also revealed that communication between areas of the brain related to memory and motivation is strongly activated when people experience happiness from visiting new places. We believe this suggests that humans have an innate “impulse to move” encoded in their DNA, and this has driven the development and evolution of mobility.

We also believe that this impulse to move has played a significant role in driving societal change. Humanity has developed and evolved transportation in line with this instinctive drive in a manner appropriate to each era (from the Society 1.0 era to the Society 4.0 era), whether it be to travel further afield to find more resources or cultivate more crops, transport more industrial products, or quickly and comfortably reach scenic destinations seen on screens.

In the Society 5.0 era, which is the central theme of the Future Life Expo: Future City exhibition, further advances are expected in the field of transportation and mobility. The Kawasaki Group’s exhibition space will showcase life-sized examples of personal and mass mobility solutions designed to move and inspire people, things and minds, and manifest our impulse to move.

While cherishing our core “Fun to Ride” motorcycle philosophy, our personal mobility solutions represent a new transportation category focused on enabling people to travel safely to previously inaccessible places.

Our mass mobility solutions together represent a revolutionary new public transport system capable of changing people’s conceptions of travel and transportation. The system that we will be presenting will enable all people to travel freely and comfortably. It leverages our unique expertise in land, sea, and air transport equipment, and is a system that only the Kawasaki Group is capable of realizing.
