Kawasaki Delivers SOPass® Ship Operation Management Support System to Tokyo LNG Tanker

Tokyo, April 2, 2024 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today its delivery of the Ship Operation and Performance analysis support system (SOPass®) to Tokyo LNG Tanker Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. The system was successfully installed in February 2024 on a currently operational liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier and commenced operation in April.
SOPass® provides useful ship operation management information to vessels by making use of ship data gathered in real time via satellite communication while also utilizing Kawasaki’s ship engineering knowledge together with information and communication technology (ICT) and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The system is also designed to carry out performance analyses, output operational results reports, and provide other such services in accordance with the wide-ranging operation management approaches employed by different customers.
The latest system delivered to Tokyo LNG Tanker provides various visual representations of ship performance through new performance analysis features and monitoring features, thus realizing greater efficiency in customer ship operation management.
Advantages of the System
| - | Reports on the operational statuses of various equipment throughout the vessel based on ship and propulsion plant performance analyses. These reports can be used in maintenance management to reduce ship operation costs, bolster safety and achieve other improvements. |
