Kawasaki Joins Japan Center for Engagement and Remedy on Business and Human Rights (JaCER) and Starts Utilizing Engagement and Remedy Platform

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. has joined as a regular member of the Japan Center for Engagement and Remedy on Business and Human Rights (JaCER), established to support and promote the redress of grievances by companies, and started utilizing the Engagement and Remedy Platform provided by JaCER. This platform is a non-judicial platform for grievance redress that is compliant with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. JaCER are working to support member companies in redressing complaints or grievance reports against them received through the platform, from a professional capacity to promote engagement and remedy.

Kawasaki has adopted The Kawasaki Group Policy on Human Rights. In this policy, we commit to proactively engage in important human rights issues to fulfill our responsibility for respecting the human rights of stakeholders who are likely to be influenced by our business activities. We have been promoting initiatives to prevent and address human rights abuses by conducting human rights impact assessments on our business activities and establishing a consultation point system for employees. Under JaCER’s supports from a professional capacity, we will implement appropriate responses in a fair and transparent manner by utilizing the Engagement and Remedy Platform which provides a wide range of stakeholders with access to remedies.

The Kawasaki Group will respond to the demands of the international community by strengthening initiatives to respect human rights with the aim of realizing our Group Mission “Kawasaki, working as one for the good of the planet”.
