Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. has been recognized for leadership in corporate transparency and performance on climate change by CDP *1, a global environmental non-profit organization, securing a place on its annual ‘A List’ for the second consecutive year.
Based on data reported through the CDP 2023 Climate Change Questionnaire, Kawasaki is one of the 346 companies that achieved the highest ‘A’ rating - out of over 21,000 companies scored, which is double the number from last year.
In response to climate change, Kawasaki is working to realize a decarbonized society through its business activities under the “Group Vision 2030,” which includes creating hydrogen supply chains and promoting CCUS (Carbon dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage) technology and facilities.
In terms of CO2 emissions from our business activities, the company has set a goal to achieve zero for the entire group by 2050, and are aiming to reduce CO2 emissions in main areas earlier than this. Specifically, for Scope 1 and 2*2, we aim to achieve carbon neutrality in Japan by 2030 through independent initiatives focusing on hydrogen power generation, and in categories 1 and 11 of Scope 3*2, we aim to realize “Zero-Carbon Ready”*3 by 2040.
We will continue to contribute to the early realization of a carbon-neutral society by both providing solutions to customers and reducing CO2 emissions in our business activities.
