Stoker-type Waste Incinerator/Power Generation System Boasting Kawasaki’s Largest Capacity at 1,500 t/d Commences Power Supply Operations in China
Aug. 07, 2020
Tokyo, August 7, 2020 - Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today the start of power supply operations by a stoker-type waste incinerator/power generation system comprising two incinerators. The system was delivered to Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, China by Anhui Conch Kawasaki Engineering Co., Ltd. (ACK), a joint venture between Kawasaki and China's Anhui Conch Group.* This system has the largest scale of its kind delivered by the Group, with a total daily capacity of 1,500 tons and a per-incinerator daily capacity of 750 tons.
This recently activated stoker-type waste incinerator/power generation system is rooted in extensive experience and reliability fostered through operations in Japan, which are backed by Kawasaki technologies and quality standards. The system's design has been optimized for waste characteristics in China, and it effectively utilizes heat from waste incineration to achieve "waste to energy" operations.
Urban waste treatment is an urgent issue facing China and other emerging economies in Southeast Asia and elsewhere due to rapid urbanization. Against this backdrop, ACK commenced operations at its first stoker-type waste incinerator/power generation system in January 2016, and since that time has been receiving new orders at a rapid pace. Customers have placed 18 orders with ACK for the system since 2019, bringing the cumulative total to 40 orders.
Kawasaki will continue enhancing technical support for ACK while increasing its lineup of high-efficiency boilers capable of high steam temperatures and pressures in response to rising demand for such products, all with the aim of promoting environmentally sustainable and energy-efficient products in China and other emerging economies to help protect the global environment.
