Kobe Public Construction Projects Bureau Orders Two Kawasaki MAG Turbo Blowers

Tokyo, December 21, 2018 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today its receipt of an order from the Kobe City Public Construction Projects Bureau for the installation of blower equipment Nos. 1 and 5 in the main facility of Tarumi Sewage Treatment Plant. Kawasaki will install two MAG-M35 models, the largest in its line of Kawasaki MAG Turbo, a proprietary single-stage sewage aeration blower with a high-speed motor and active magnetic bearings. The company will supply and install the aeration blowers for Kobe City, with operation of the new equipment scheduled to start around February 2020.
The Kawasaki MAG Turbo blowers will be used to supply air to biological reaction tanks, where microorganisms serve to clean wastewater brought into the sewage treatment facilities. Blower equipment accounts for approximately 60% of the electricity consumed in such treatment facilities, and the introduction of Kawasaki MAG Turbo blowers is intended to boost efficiency and energy savings in response to rapidly increasing demand for improved efficiency in electricity usage. The Kawasaki MAG Turbo utilizes an inverter to control the motor rotation speed while also controlling inlet guide vanes, thus achieving higher partial load efficiency and increased range of air-volume control to reduce electricity usage for sewage processing and enable greater flexibility in operations.
Since the first delivery of the Kawasaki MAG Turbo in 2007, it has earned widespread praise for the blowers' high efficiency and ease of maintenance, leading to further orders for sewage treatment facilities throughout Japan. This latest order brings the total number of Kawasaki MAG Turbo orders to 150 units and marks the ninth unit ordered by the Kobe City Public Construction Projects Bureau.
Moving forward, Kawasaki will continue to meet both domestic and international customer needs by providing Kawasaki MAG Turbo while developing new technologies in pursuit of even greater efficiency and energy savings.
