Nov. 07, 2017

Tokyo, November 7, 2017 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today its plans to showcase four new models at EICMA 2017,*1 which will be held in the suburbs of Milan, Italy for four days starting on Thursday, November 9. Models to be shown include the Ninja H2 SX, Ninja H2 SX SE, Ninja ZX-10R SE and Z900RS CAFE, all developed for the European market.

The Ninja H2 SX high-performance sports touring model and its high grade model Ninja H2 SX SE both come equipped with supercharged engines. These are the newest additions to the Ninja H2 series, which includes the popular Ninja H2 and Ninja H2R models—recipients of widespread praise thanks to stunning performance. In addition to high engine output and powerful acceleration, both models are easy to ride and boast superb fuel efficiency thanks to the use of a next-generation Balanced Supercharged Engine, making for more impressive touring performance.

The Ninja ZX-10R SE supersport model, a high-grade model of the Ninja ZX-10R, was designed to achieve performance similar to that of the Ninja ZX-10R/ZX-10RR. Jonathan Rea won the Superbike World Championship*2 three years running from 2015 to 2017 with these models. Toward this end, designers have equipped the Ninja ZX-10R SE with highly advanced electronic suspention, enabling both race-circuit performance and an extremely high degree of user comfort.

The Z900RS CAFE, a variation on the Z900RS retro sports bike, carries on the traditions of Kawasaki's historic Z1 model. Incorporating the Z900RS's classical styling and excellent driving performance, the Z900 RS CAFE is designed with sportier, cafe racer*3 specs and includes a front cowl, lowered handlebar positioning and a unique seat design.

Kawasaki plans to release the Ninja H2 SX, Ninja H2 SX SE and Z900RS CAFE in Japan, and the Ninja ZX-10R SE overseas.

*1
One of Europe's biggest motorcycle shows. EICMA stands for Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori.
*2
A world-famous road race using modified factory-production motorcycles.
*3
A type of customized motorcycle. In the 1960s, young British motorcycle enthusiasts would gather at cafes and customize their bikes for greater speed, hence the term "cafe racer." This type of bike is usually characterized by features such as low handlebar positioning, the inclusion of only a single seat, and a front cowl.

Overview of New Models for 2018

Ninja H2 SX, Ninja H2 SX SE

The Ninja H2 SX and H2 SX SE sports touring models are new additions to the supercharged-engine Ninja H2 series lineup. Both feature a 998cm3, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder Balanced Supercharged Engine designed to achieve a good balance between performance and everyday usability in street-riding condition. In addition to high engine output and powerful acceleration, which are distinctive features of the Ninja H2 series, both models are easy to handle while also offering superb fuel efficiency. The newly designed trellis frame can accommodate tandem riding and be outfitted with panniers for improved touring-bike performance, and the relaxed riding position, great for both sports riding and cruising around the city, combined with a full-fairing design for better wind protection facilitate greater rider comfort. Moreover, the inclusion of electronic cruise control reduces rider fatigue during long-distance rides.
The high-end Ninja H2 SX SE features an LED cornering headlight for improved visibility when navigating turns at night, and this along with a full-color TFT LCD screen, Kawasaki Launch Control Mode (KLCM), Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS), and other equipment and functions boost touring performance further. The exterior boasts color designs and graphics unique to this model, giving it a truly high-grade feel that will please owners.

Ninja ZX-10R SE

The Ninja ZX-10R SE is a variation on its supersport models. Using the same basic construction as the Ninja ZX-10R—a 998cm3, liquid-cooled, inline four-stroke four-cylinder engine offering both power and excellent control, along with an aluminum twin-spar frame—the Ninja ZX-10R SE adds the cutting-edge Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension (KECS) system developed jointly by Kawasaki and Showa Corporation to achieve optimized damping control at all times in response to road conditions and the state of the vehicle. This model also features aluminum forged wheels, developed jointly with Marchesini Group, which are designed to achieve a lower moment of inertia for nimbler, more responsive handling. These leading-edge technologies combined with high-quality equipment and other features enable track speed alongside high-end rider comfort for cruising around town.
