Tokyo, September 30, 2014 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it will exhibit three new models for the European market at INTERMOT 2014*1, to be held in Cologne, Germany for five days starting on October 1.

At this year's event, Kawasaki will showcase the Ninja H2R*2, which brings together the crossover technologies of Kawasaki Group. The Ninja H2R features a supercharged engine fully developed by Kawasaki to deliver outstanding acceleration for an ultimate "Fun to Ride" experience. In addition, the newly designed trellis frame and advanced aerodynamics will allow riders to enjoy sport riding on a whole new level.

Also on display is the Versys 650, a middle-class sport bike that consistently delivers an exhilarating ride on any type of road. The 2015 model comes with a new look, featuring a sporty and aggressive design that is unmistakably Kawasaki. With an adjustable windscreen and increased fuel tank capacity, the new Versys 650 comes with enhanced utility and comfort.

The Versys 1000, a high-end model of the same Versys series, has also revamped its appearance. The basic configuration — such as the In-line Four cylinder engine with its stress-free acceleration up to high-end rpm, and the long-stroke suspension — has remained intact. The new model, however, comes as standard with the Assist & Slipper Clutch, adopted in sport models including the Ninja ZX-6R, realizing greater handling and stability.

Further, a 30th anniversary special edition Ninja model, as well as the "J" 3-wheel electric vehicle, which was shown at last year's Tokyo Motor Show as a concept model, will also be exhibited.

Features of New Models for 2015

Ninja H2R

The Ninja H2R, which combines the crossover technologies of Kawasaki Group, is a high-performance model that offers both outstanding power and ease of riding. The proprietary supercharged engine was built with the know-how in the design of gas turbines, realizing a powerful acceleration that is offered by no other existing model. The newly designed trellis frame delivers straight-line stability and sporty cornering with its excellent balance of rigidity. The upper and lower wings, developed based on the flow analysis technology used in aircraft design, have provided a down force on the body, increasing stability at.the high speed range.

Versys 650

The Versys 650 is a middle-class sport bike that consistently delivers an exhilarating ride on any type of road. The 649 cm3 liquid-cooled, four-stroke, parallel twin-cylinder four-valve engine, which offers enhanced torque at low to mid rpm, long-stroke suspension, and sporty 17-inch tires all combine to offer a fun ride that is greatly satisfying. The 2015 model comes with a new look, featuring a sporty and aggressive design that is a hallmark of Kawasaki motorcycles. With an adjustable windscreen that can be raised or lowered according to the riding scene, increased fuel tank capacity, and remote preload adjuster, the new Versys 650 is designed to offer enhanced utility and comfort.

Versys 1000

The Versys 1000 is the highest-end model of the series. While the appearance is similar to that of the Versys 650, the design incorporates functional considerations for wind protection, air resistance, and heat release. The 1,043 cm3 4-stroke In-line Four cylinder engine which delivers stress-free acceleration up to high-end rpm, long-stroke suspension offering excellent shock absorption, and 17-inch tires for greater riding stability have all been kept from the previous model. In addition, the Versys 1000 features as standard the Assist & Slipper Clutch adopted in sports models such as the Ninja ZX-6R, facilitating the operation of the clutch lever and preventing the hopping of the rear tire during sudden application of the engine braking. A variety of accessories will also be available for greater convenience as a touring motorcycle.
