Kawasaki Delivers Green Gas Engine for U.S Market
Oct. 17, 2013
Tokyo, October 17, 2013 - Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it has completed the shipment of Kawasaki Green Gas Engines to Toray Plastics (America), Inc. (TPA) on October 2, 2013. This is the first Green Gas Engine order in the U.S market.
Kawasaki received an order for a total of two Kawasaki Green Gas Engines from TPA in April 2013: model KG-18-V (capacity: 7,500 kw) and model KG-12-V (capacity: 5,000 kw). Both models boast the world’s highest electrical efficiency of 49.0%.
These gas engines will be provided for the captive power generation of TPA, and start operation from the end of February 2014.
The world's highest electrical efficiency and the low emission feature as well as the high quality and reliability of the Kawasaki Green Gas Engine were the key factors in TPA's decision to select the Kawasaki Green Gas Engine, according to a TPA representative.
The Kawasaki Green Gas Engine lineup comes in two types, a standard model with an electrical efficiency of 48.5% and a high-efficiency model with an electrical efficiency of 49.0%. Both types of this revolutionary gas engine boast low NOx emissions (less than 200 ppm at O2=0%) as well as high electrical efficiency. In addition to offering superior economic and environmental performance, the Green Gas Engine eliminates the need for liquid fuel by adopting an electric spark ignition system.
While the world requires efficient use of energy and reduction of environmental burdens these days, Kawasaki is continually moving forward to contribute to reducing the impact on the environment through the environmentally friendly Green Gas Engine and other high performance power systems.
