Flow Dynamics Conveyors Ordered for Taiwan Power Company

Tokyo, March 19, 2013 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it has received an order for six Flow Dynamics Conveyors (FDC) from China Steel Machinery Corporation (CSMC), a subsidiary of the Taiwanese steel manufacturing company China Steel Corporation (CSC). CSMC has been commissioned to undertake part of a project to construct the coal conveyor system for the Linkou Thermal Power Plant of Taiwan Power Company (Taipower), where the six FDCs will be installed.
The FDCs will stretch a total length of about 4 km to transport coal from a nearby port all the way to the boilers inside the power plant, which is currently under construction. Two of the FDCs ordered are capable of transporting up to 2,000 tons of material per hour, while the remaining four have a capacity of 4,400 t/h. The FDCs, the first to be adopted by Taipower, are scheduled for delivery in 2015. Construction of the entire power plant is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
The FDC developed by Kawasaki is an idlerless, fully-enclosed conveyor that offers such excellent features as reduced noise and vibration, high-speed conveyance and elimination of flying dust for an environmentally-friendly operation.
Kawasaki has delivered over 200 FDCs mainly for power plants, steelworks, cement plants and chemical plants in Japan, Korea, China and Italy. The latest project will mark the second delivery in Taiwan, following the FDC delivered for CSC in 2003. The new order is a testament to the outstanding technology and reliability of Kawasaki's products, backed by its extensive track record.
Demand for FDC is expected to continue in Taiwan, with construction of another power plant ongoing in Dalin, along with further plans for coal power plants in Shenao and Taichung.
Kawasaki is moving steadily ahead to expand FDC sales across the globe.
