Kawasaki launches the KG-12-V and KG-18-V, high-efficient models of in its Green Gas Engine series

Mar. 23, 2011

Tokyo, March 23, 2011- Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it will launch super high-efficient models in its Green Gas Engine series, the KG-12-V and KG-18-V.

The new KG-12 / 18-V models achieve 49.0% electric efficiency at the generator terminal, which is a 0.5% improvement over the conventional KG-12/18 series. The conventional KG-12/18 series had already achieved the world’s highest efficiency at 48.5%, thus this new model sets a new world record in efficiency. KG-12 /18 -V are equipped with a VTA (Variable Turbine nozzle Area) turbocharger, which optimizes the recovery efficiency of engine exhaust energy by adjusting the variable nozzle area. As a result of this improved electric efficiency, this Kawasaki Green Gas Engine achieves even greater environmental performance by reducing CO2 emissions further, while keeping the same low level of NOx emissions as the conventional models (not over 200 ppm at 0% O2).

Such highly efficient and environmentally-friendly technologies are in strong market demand. Kawasaki will continue to pursue even greater heights in its energy and environmental business by achieving new heights in its technologies.
