Kawasaki Exhibits Ninja ZX-10R and 4 More New Models at INTERMOT 2010Tokyo, October 6, 2010 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it will exhibit five new models for the European market at INTERMOT 2010*1, to be held in Cologne, Germany for five days starting on October 6.

Kawasaki will exhibit its newly revamped Ninja ZX-10R, a large-displacement supersport model that has made major market inroads across the globe. Featuring a newly designed engine, frame and suspension system for dramatically enhanced circuit riding performance, the all new Ninja ZX-10R comes loaded with advanced technologies that enable riders to enjoy superior riding performance. Those cutting-edge rider-support technologies include the S-KTRC*2, Kawasaki’s new traction control system, engineered specifically for racing, as well as the KIBS*3, an antilock braking system designed specially for supersport motorcycles.

Kawasaki will also exhibit its Z1000SX, a totally new model with all the great features of a supersport motorcycle, like excellent riding performance and an aggressive full fairing plus practical features for easy riding. The Z1000SX is specifically designed to satisfy riders who have been looking for more from existing models.

Also on display will be the Z750R, Kawasaki’s new sport model. Featuring high-grade suspension and braking systems for enhanced sport handling, the Z750R is an upgraded version of the Z750, a medium displacement sport model that’s a favorite in the European market. Kawasaki will also introduce its W800, a sport model equipped with an air-cooled twin engine that offers all the classic beauty of a vintage motorcycle and a riding experience to match.

Another major attraction at the show will be the VN1700 VOYAGER CUSTOM. This new cruiser*4 model from Kawasaki’s VN1700 range is a wide and low bagger-style bike featuring a large front cowl fitted with a short wind deflector*5 and classic saddlebags. Outfitted with a package of state-of-the-art cruising features, the VN1700 VOYAGER CUSTOM delivers more cruising comfort than ever.

Supersport Models

Ninja ZX-10R

The Ninja ZX-10R is the flagship model in Kawasaki’s Ninja line of supersport bikes.

Always a motorcycle designed to offer maximum performance on the circuit, the all new Ninja ZX-10R is equipped with a completely redesigned four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve 998-cm3 inline-four engine and a newly engineered aluminum twin-tube frame for enhanced riding performance and control. The BPF*6 on the front suspension and the horizontal back-link rear suspension*7 deliver enhanced cornering stability and feedback to the rider. Its frame and bodywork feature upgrades that reduce the weight over the previous model by more than 10 kg to make the new Ninja ZR-10R lighter than ever. Harnessing the latest advances in engineering, the ZR-10R is loaded with newly developed technologies that enable riders to get maximum supersport performance. It’s packed with features like the S-KTRC. Kawasaki incorporated racing technologies into the design phase of this traction control system that estimates various parameters to deliver optimum acceleration performance. It also boasts the KIBS, a highly sophisticated antilock braking system specially designed for supersport motorcycles, as well as a power mode selector that enables riders to control engine output.

Z1000SX

The Z1000SX offers all the great features of a supersport motorcycle, like high performance, aggressive styling, and practical functions all in one package.

Its four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve 1,043-cm3 inline-four engine delivers crisp throttle response and quick mid-rpm acceleration A lightweight and highly rigid aluminum twin-tube frame offers superb stability and nimble handling while the horizontal back-link rear suspension delivers excellent damping performance in addition to enhancing mass centralization. The Z1000SX’s aerodynamically designed, sharp styling and aggressive bodywork tops off the entire package. All these features come with a relaxed riding position, three-way adjustable windscreen, under-seat storage space, a wide and comfortable rear seat for tandem riding, and ergonomically designed easy-to-handle passenger hand grips. Everything works together perfectly to make the Z1000SX a high performance as well as rider friendly machine.

Z750R

The Z750R is an upgraded version of the Z750, Kawasaki’s medium displacement sport model that’s been a perennial favorite in the European market.

Thanks to its powerful four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve 748-cm3 inline-four engine and a superior suspension system that’s usually found on high-end models, the Z750R’s sport riding performance is better than ever. The Z750R is equipped with a number of special features that are available only on the R model like its inverted front fork with adjustable rebound damping, piggyback reservoir rear shock, a lightweight aluminum swingarm, radial-mount brake calipers, and a radial-pump brake master cylinder. The specially designed front cowl with its sharp lines contributes to the Z750R’s uniquely aggressive styling.

The W800 is a sport model with exquisite vintage styling that offers a classic riding experience.

Its four-stroke, air-cooled, SOHC, four-valve 773-cm3 parallel twin-cylinder engine, generates maximum torque at 2,000 rpm. Featuring a long stroke design, the W800’s engine has been tuned for optimal low- and midrange performance. Pulsing with excitement, the motorcycle’s pleasant vibration delivers the feel of a vintage bike while its large wheels and traditional suspension provide nimble and gentle handling. The W800’s simple but elegant design featuring a small fuel tank with sparkling chrome emblems and a ribbed seat all add up to classic motorcycle styling. Chrome-plated or polished metal parts, like the front fender, finish the job with a beautiful luster and shine that makes the W800 a timeless work of art.

VN1700 VOYAGER CUSTOM

The VN1700 VOYAGER CUSTOM is a stylish and sporty large displacement cruiser.

It’s the latest addition to the VN1700 range of motorcycles, fitted with a powerful four-stroke, liquid cooled, SOHC, four-valve 1,700-cm3 V-Twin engine and advanced features designed for sporty handling and maximum comfort. This wide and low bagger-style*8 bike features a large front cowl fitted with a short wind deflector and classic saddlebags. The streamlined design accented by black parts reflects the VN1700 VOYAGER CUSTOM’s tough yet sporty character.
