Changing forward

In the 120 years since our establishment, Kawasaki has supported the lifestyle of people around the world in many visible ways and invisible ways.

However, the world is also now changing at a previously unprecedented speed. We wish to remain as an innovative creator, always changing, seeing one step ahead and transforming fast enough to keep up.

Changing forward.

We put into words our idea to consistently change and accept any challenges and our commitment to society as it changes as we proceed to step forward.

With this ideal at heart Kawasaki will continue to lead this changing world.

ART EMPOWERMENT

Enriching society with the power of art.

Enriching society with the power of art.

In April 2023, Kawasaki became the official partner of the National Museum of Western Art.

Through this partnership, we aim to "Create a wealthier society with the power of art" and contribute to the enrichment of people's hearts and minds.

Changing forward

All began with one businessman’s passionate desire.

Kojiro Matsukata was the first president of Kawasaki Dockyard. He contributed to Japan's economic development through a variety of businesses and wanted to show real Western culture to the Japanese people, who at that time had chance to encounter foreign cultures. The collection of Western art works, which he collected with this passion, eventually led to the opening of the National Museum of Western Art.

To achieve a cleaner future

Hydrogen.
Energy of hope for a carbon neutral world.

Towards the realization of carbon neutrality, hydrogen is increasingly recognized as the ultimate energy source to lead us forward.

To achieve a cleaner, hydrogen-based future, Kawasaki is building global hydrogen supply chains for “Production”, “Transportation”, “Storage”, and “Utilization”.

Changing forward

Bringing to Japan Competitively-Priced Hydrogen Produced Overseas

With the Japanese government implementing policies to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the use of hydrogen is gaining momentum as an energy source that is as “clean” as other renewable energy sources. In response, Kawasaki has been driving forward its projects to commercialize the global hydrogen supply chains that allow for the use in Japan of competitively-priced, foreign-produced hydrogen.

FRONTIER

Paving the way with our challenger spirit

Shozo Kawasaki, the founder of Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

His passion and ambition to innovate and overcome the issues of his day made him a true pioneer in Japan’s shipbuilding industry.

Shozo’s spirit runs deep throughout Kawasaki and helps drive us forward with answers for today’s ever-changing issues in society.

Changing forward

Our origin was shipbuilding

Kawasaki's origins go back to 1878, when Shozo Kawasaki established Kawasaki Tsukiji Shipyard in Tokyo. Since our founding, we have expanded our business across land, sea and air, providing innovative products and services that meet the diverse needs of people around the world.

DEEP OCEAN

Around the world, pipelines are laid and stretched out over the seabed.

Around the world, pipelines are laid and stretched out over the seabed.

Kawasaki makes the inspection and maintenance of those pipelines possible to be done by SPICE, a robot that swims in the depths of the ocean.

Through the development of SPICE, Kawasaki keeps broadening new possibilities in the deep ocean, and also the potential for humanity.

Changing forward

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle “SPICE”

SPICE is an autonomous unmanned submersible robot. To provide a stable supply of energy to the world, it will maintain and inspect pipelines in harsh marine conditions, under the 3,000m deep ocean.

Creating our future - a hydrogen-based society

Creating our future - a hydrogen-based society

The dreams of each and every one of us dedicated to the research and development of hydrogen energy can together help move the future forward.

Kawasaki contributes to a more affluent future society and the global environment by building a hydrogen supply chain to provide a stable supply of clean energy.

Changing forward

“Production”, “Transportation”, ”Storage”, and “Utilization” of Hydrogen

When cryogenically cooled to -253℃, hydrogen changes its phase to a liquid state, shrinking to 1/800 of its original volume. At its reduced volume, storage and transportation efficiency increases dramatically, enabling a much greater distribution of hydrogen.
By combining the experience and expertise in cryogenic technologies, Kawasaki will keep pursuing the mission of establishing a hydrogen energy supply chain.

Motorcycles that brighten up your life.

Motorcycles that brighten up your life.

At Bonneville Speed Week, the famous festival of speed, our Ninja H2 demonstrated its incredible power and potential as the world’s fastest motorcycle.

Kawasaki celebrates and contributes to people’s beautiful lives through motorcycles which pursue speed.

Changing forward

Motorcycle Ninja H2

The Ninja H2 is our ultimate motorcycle, manufactured using our cutting-edge technologies and craftsmanship. Its supercharged engine, enabling mind-bending acceleration, was developed with Kawasaki’s gas turbine technologies. Its aerodynamic devices, needed to help stabilize the machine at speed, were produced with our aircraft manufacturing expertise.

Rolling Stock—essential for people’s mobility

At our annual Model Railway event held at our company museum, Kawasaki Good Times World, shiny-eyed children share their ideas for dream trains.

Kawasaki contributes to realizing a more prosperous society by manufacturing safe, fast and comfortable rolling stock.

Series E5 Shinkansen for JR East

The series E5 Shinkansen is a high-speed rolling stock manufactured and developed by Kawasaki and other companies for JR East. It was produced aiming to achieve a top operating speed of 320km/h. Its front car has an extended nose to reduce the micro-pressure waves generated when entering a tunnel (also known as piston effect). With such cutting-edge technologies, the series E5 has realized faster yet quieter comfort for its passengers.

Electricity in our lives

Electricity in our lives

At night, forgetting the time, a young boy eagerly reads from a book. The light he reads by is generated by the gas turbines and gas engines responsible for supplying the region in which he lives with power.

By expanding our products and services into regions with an unstable supply of power, Kawasaki will contribute to the good of the planet.

Changing forward

Gas Turbine L30A

Gas turbines are power generators characterized by being eco-friendly and offering excellent combustion efficiency. The L30A is Kawasaki’s largest, state-of-the-art gas turbine. It is often used in a cogeneration system to generate both power and heat.

Gas Engine KG-18-V

Gas engines are power generators characterized by high operational stability, excellent generation efficiency and low emissions to benefit the environment. The KG-18-V has achieved the world’s best electrical efficiency of 49%, as well as NOx emissions of less than 200ppm (O2=0% conversion), and has been especially well received by medium and small scale power producers.
