Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. manufactured Japan’s first industrial robot in 1969. In India, Kawasaki started supplying robots as early as the 1980s, and engaged in sales and services through a local distributor. In 2015, a local subsidiary company, Kawasaki Heavy Industries (India) Pvt. Ltd., was established, under which the Robot Division opened its own office in Gurgaon, Haryana to provide customers with sales, engineering and after-sales services. The Robot Division also opened offices in Gandhinagar, Bangalore and Chennai to support customers.
As a result, a great number of Kawasaki robots for spot welding and painting have been supplied to major automobile users in Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. In addition, the demand for robots is rapidly increasing in general industry for arc welding, palletizing, assembling and handling applications.
As the Indian government promotes its “Make in India” policy, the manufacturing sector is developing quickly and the needs for automation and higher productivity are increasing accordingly.
