Providing Robots with "Eyes" and "Brains"

Industrial robots are good at accurately repeating movements they have been taught.
Humans, on the other hand, can perform advanced tasks by obtaining 90% of the information of their surroundings through vision (eyes).
By providing robots with a function corresponding to "eyes" that enables them to recognize their surroundings or objects and a function corresponding to a "brain" that enables them to think through the order of the work to be done with the recognized objects, they can not only perform simple repetitive operations but also flexibly perform operations according to the environment they are placed in.
We have developed a 3D vision system with "eyes" and a "brain" for industrial robots.
This system is applied to a robot system that realizes automatic picking of randomly piled components.
