Hokuren Orders Coal-Fired Boiler Turbine Power Plant for Naka-shari Sugar Factory

May. 07, 2008

Tokyo, May 7, 2008 — Kawasaki Plant Systems, Ltd. announced today that it has received an order for a coal-fired boiler turbine power generation system from Itochu Corporation.

The boiler turbine power generation system will be installed in the Hokuren Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives’ sugar factory in Naka-shari to supply electricity and steam.
The system will facilitate a shift from oil to coal and enhance the factory’s energy efficiency with higher steam temperatures and pressure, while significantly cutting energy costs. The power generation system is scheduled for completion in September 2010.

The new power plant consists of various systems designed for coal storage, coal transport, boiler operations, exhaust gas treatment, ash treatment, and steam turbine power generation. It employs Kawasaki’s proprietary low NOx burner, which allows for effective furnace denitration through combined use with a dual firing system. Equipped with an exhaust gas treatment system, the coal-fired boiler turbine power generation system is environmentally friendly.
