Kawasaki Receives Cogeneration System Order from Indonesia

Sep. 20, 2006

Tokyo, September 20, 2006 — Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that Kawasaki Gas Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd, Kawasaki’s Kuala Lumpur-based gas turbine sales and service base for southeastern/western Asia, and the Indonesian engineering firm, PT Euroasiatic have jointly received an order for a 5,500 kW gas turbine cogeneration system from PT Kurabo Manunggal Textile Industries (Kumatex), a wholly owned Indonesian subsidiary of Kurabo Industries Ltd. It came just after Kawasaki received an order for a similar system to PT Bridgestone Tire Indonesia.

The system is comprised of a natural gas-fueled gas turbine power generation system employing Kawasaki’s proprietary 7,000 kW class M7A-02 gas turbine and a heat recovery steam boiler. It will generate 5,500 kW electricity and 13 tons/hour of steam, which will be supplied to Kumatex’s production facilities, further enhancing its energy savings.

The system is scheduled to start up in June 2007. Kawasaki will deliver the gas turbine generator, while PT Euroasiatic will supply the boiler, auxiliary equipment and installation work.

Kawasaki will leverage its sales successes in the cogeneration market with Kawasaki Gas Turbine Asia to further develop business in southeastern/western Asia. The expansion fits into the company's quadripolar global business structure, encompassing the Americas, Europe, Eastern Asia, including Japan, and Southeastern Asia.
