Kawasaki Delivers Arctic Voyager LNG carrier

Tokyo, July 18, 2006 — Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation announced today that it delivered the Arctic Voyager LNG carrier to Lloyds TSB Equipment Leasing (No. 1) Limited on July 14.

The 289.5 m long, 140,000 m3 carrier, identified as Kawasaki Hull No. 1532, is for the Statoil ASA-led Snøhvit LNG Project in Norway. A member of the Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” Line) group operates the vessel.

The ship will ply waters between northern Norway and the eastern seaboard of North America, and northern Norway and Southern Europe, so it has been designed for particularly inclement conditions. The carrier boasts the lowest levels of noise and vibration in its living quarters, achieving COMF-V (1), the highest Comfort Class certification of Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The Arctic Voyager is also environmentally friendly, featuring double-hull fuel oil tanks and high-performance oil-water separators in the engine room’s bilge drainage system.
