Bulk Carrier Ocean Spirit Delivered

Tokyo, April 6, 2006 – Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation today delivered the Ocean Spirit bulk carrier to Silverstar Ship Line, S. A. at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS) in Nantong, China. The carrier, identified as Kawasaki hull No. 1594, is the 20th 55,500 DWT bulk carrier built by NACKS.

The 189.9 m vessel has a flush deck with forecastle and five holds, which are designed for optimum transport of grains, coal, ores and steel products. Four 30.5 ton deck cranes are installed at the center in between each hatch cover to enable cargo loading and unloading in ports where no cargo handling facilities are available. The carrier’s high-output main engine is the compact, lightweight HHM-MAN B&W 6S50MC-C.
