Car Carrier Shanghai Highway Delivered

 Tokyo, August 29, 2005 – Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation announced today that it delivered the Shanghai Highway car carrier, with a capacity of 5,000 cars, to the River Spring Corporation on August 26. The carrier, identified as Kawasaki hull No. 1553, is the first of three vessels being built at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering, Co., Ltd. (NACKS) for the same project.

 The roll-on/roll-off pure car carrier has 12-layer car decks with two rampways to facilitate the loading and unloading of large cars driven to/from ports. The vessel is also designed to flexibly serve mixed loading of different types of vehicles, including buses and trucks.
