Kawasaki Takes Over Autopolis Racing Course

Tokyo, March 3, 2005 – Kawasaki's long-standing dream of operating its own full-scale motorcycle test course has become a reality. Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. today acquired the Autopolis racing course located in Hita City, Oita Prefecture, on the southern island of Kyushu. The new facility, with FIA* and MFJ** certifications, will drive Kawasaki's R&D efforts, particularly in the development of medium and large-sized motorcycles, to swiftly respond to various customer needs.

Following the acquisition, Kawasaki plans to work hard to further promote motor sports at Autopolis. Racing events such as the Super GT, Japan's most popular touring car race (formerly the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship), the All Japan Road Race Championship for motorcycles, and other events such as sports driving and riding for amateur drivers and riders will continue to be held. Kawasaki will host or sponsor various events to make Autopolis a must-visit destination for motorcycle fans.
