Line-up of Three Easy-Maintenance Shredder Models for Scrapped Vehicles

EarthTechnica Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Kawasaki and Kobe Steel, Ltd., added three new shredder models to their line up in May 2004. These shredder models, with processing capacities of 20-25, 25-35 and 35-45 tons per hour respectively, have improved ease of maintenance, offering efficient crushing of scrapped vehicles that promote recycling.

The shredders have an innovative rotor structure and employ the changeable liners method that eliminate the need for conventional hard-facing overlay welding, which has resulted in heightened maintenance efficiency and reinforced safe operation. In addition, hydraulic rotor-lifting system has been newly installed to easily replace parts, since the main body of the shredder also has large consumable parts, which ends up with a significant reduction in maintenance hours.

In Japan, since the Vehicle Recycling Law will be fully enforced in January 2005, it will become mandatory for automobile manufacturers to dispose of recycle scrapped vehicles. Consequently, the demand for shredders for scrapped vehicles is expected to continue to be strong.
